FAQ

Is WOODSTOCK Organic Sauerkraut pasteurized?

No, it is not considered pasteurized. Our fermentation process is considered “wild” and utilizes the lactic acid that is present in the cabbage. Once shredded, salted and covered, the fermentation process kicks off naturally. During this process, we do utilize a heat treatment which deactivates the lactic acid from forming bacteria. This process allows trace amounts probiotic bacteria to remain present.

Does WOODSTOCK Organic Sauerkraut contain probiotics?

WOODSTOCK’s fermentation process will produce different strains of “friendly” bacteria, also known as probiotics. However, we do not make claims of specific strains or quantities in our Sauerkraut. These factors can vary from batch to batch.

Is the recall for organic Pomegranate over?

In June of 2013, in an abundance of caution, we voluntarily recalled our frozen organic Pomegranate Kernels due to a potential link to a recalled Lot of bulk pomegranates that were exposed to the hepatitis A virus. There were no reported illnesses associated with Woodstock Organic Pomegranate Kernels. The Lot numbers recalled had Best By Dates of 02/04/2015, 03/28/2015 and 04/19/2015.
